In the anacoustic zone of the thermosphere, gas density is so low that molecular interactions are too infrequent to permit the fluid transmission of sound. Momoka Iwashita’s ephemeral, angelic vocal improvisations emulate this edge, sailing on the atmospheric tides of Daniel Fischlin’s guitar phrasings. Thrumming, machine-like electronica punctuates the void, evoking the 410km orbit of the ISS, from which can be heard singing on occasion.
